Color Inspiration

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

Hi La La Land!!! Do you hate losing your creativity as much as I do!?!?! Do you ever wonder if there is something “more” out there then the same old same old? Tired of scrap lifting and templates?? Well I’m here to give you a  new and EXCITING way to get those creative juices flowing!!! It’s called Color Palette Generator and you can use it several ways!!! You can link up your picture and use the color palette that is provided to search your stash for the PERFECT kit or you can use the color palette to help you recolor a favorite kit. Not only does this help with the mojo but it also helps when you are low on dough and just don’t have the funds to shop shop shop!!!

I used the palette generator to search my La stash and find the perfect kit for this picture!!!

I uploaded my picture to photobucket and then plugged the URL into the site and it gave me this color palette:

Then I headed to my La folder on my harddrive and searched all the previews and I came up with these 6 kits that had the blues, yellows and oranges in it!!

I chose stormy weather because it was PERFECT!!! The blues, oranges and yellows were an exact match!!! And here is the page that I came up with!!!

Did that page turn out beautifully!?!?! I just love it and to think that ordinarily I probably would have turned this photo black and white to scrap it!!! Lizzy played along and here is her color palette and the fabulously beautiful page she scrapped with it!!!

So the next time you find yourself low on mojo, stuck trying to scrap the special photo or wishing you had the bucks to buy that [red/blue/green/purple] kit….head on over to the Color Palette Generator and you just might find yourself on the path to wonderful creativity again!!!!

Monday Monday….

Monday, January 25th, 2010

We have a slow morning in La land this Monday with no new releases, but I did want to let everyone know that the charity collab One Love is now out, with all the proceeds going to Haiti!

“One love refers to the universal love and respect expressed by all people for all people, regardless of race, creed, or color.”

Forty-eight designers from around the community have joined together to bring you this incredible kit with the common purpose of raising funds for Haitian aid and relief.  Our theme, “One Love”, symbolizes not only our heartfelt effort to help the people of Haiti, but also encompasses the diverse styles of all the designers involved in this project.  This kit represents the diversity of our community and shows that even though we are all different, when we come together the result is truly spectacular.

The profits from the sale of this kit will be donated to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.  We chose the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund not only because it embodies the spirit of One Love, but also because 100% of the donations will go to the relief and recovery efforts in Haiti and because they are working to provide both immediate relief and long-term support to the earthquake survivors.

This beautiful kit includes 114 papers, 356 elements, 3 alphabets, 6 page templates and 1 hybrid template.

This product is only available for a limited time.

Please take the time to go over and check out this gorgeous kit that has been put together by all these amazing artists.

Happy Hump Day!

Hi everyone, Vanessa here, I thought since Halloween is this weekend I’d post a little quiz.

You Are Spooky

You put the trick in “trick or treat,” and you won’t stop scaring people until you scare yourself.
You love horror movies, dark spooky nights, and the darker side of Halloween. You save the kids’ stuff for the kids.

Speaking of kids, you avoid the little candy grubbing monsters at all costs. Well, unless you are looking to give them a little scare.
You think Halloween has gotten a bit to sugary these days, and you don’t mind injecting a little fright into things.

Are you a dreamer or a doer?

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Hi everyone, Happy Wednesday, I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I came across this quiz and thought it would be fun for everyone.

You Are a Dreamer

You are primarily concerned with possibilities. You tend to be a fanciful person.
All of the world’s opportunities sometimes overwhelm you.

You are obsessed with ideas and tend to be a big thinker. Theories interest you greatly.
You crave intellectual stimulation. You are drawn to a philosophical way of life.

2007 & Fruit

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Know what sucks?  Being 2 days behind.  Know what sucks even worse?  Being 2 YEARS behind.  People give you reeeeally weird looks when you do that.  “What?  It’s not 2007?”

So yes, I was supposed to show up here and do something really nifty yesterday.  I didn’t.  Or did I?  Anyways, it’s hot out so take this here quizzy for the heck of it and tell me… which tropical fruit are you?

Here’s mine *strokes beard*

You Are an Avocado

You are casual, laid back, and totally easy go get along with.

You are compatible with many different types of people, even those with strong personalities.

You are creative and inspired. You don’t put yourself in a box, and you aren’t into labels.

You are open-minded and diplomatic. People find your “middle of the road” ways comforting.

What Tropical Fruit Are You?
Next time, I owe you a snazzy magic trick or something.  Just don’t charge interest.  I’m not that creative.  Later gators and stay cool; there’s really no need to go outside, everything you NEED is in La’s shop, duh!
Love, rainbow-kisses, and some guacamole,
Annie

Hey Emmy…here goes. A little Q & A for ya!

Q. Tell us a little about yourself, outside the digi-world.

A. Well, I’m a mom to 4 boys that are 2, 4, 6, and 8. My husband and I have been married for 14 years. He is one awesome guy - a wonderful father and great husband. We laugh a lot and really enjoy the craziness of our life with 4 little boys. We homeschool as well, so between house and school and kids and just laundry - I keep pretty busy! In addition to scrapping I really love to knit and to read.

Q. Back to digi…how long have you been scrapping?

I started scrapping in paper 8 years ago just before my oldest son was born. My SIL was an avid scrapper at that time and I remember looking over her books and liking the idea of doing a book for my soon-to-be born son. I recall telling myself that I certainly woudln’t spend as much time and money as she had though - I would just do a simple book and be done. HA! I had no idea what I was in for! It’s been an awesome hobby for me and a great creative outlet. More than anything though, I’m so grateful I found scrapping just before my kids were born because I took more pictures and wrote down more journaling that I probably would have thought to do otherwise. I started digi scrapping in May of 2004 and that fueled the obsession even more since I could scrap faster and easier.

Q. How would you describe your scrapping style?

I’m a pretty simple scrapper and not terribly trendy. I really like the photos to be the focus and I try to journal on most pages. I scrap a lot of event pages as well as moments style pages - I’m kind of traditional overall. Sort of a digital Becky Higgins with more stitching and staples than she would ever use.

Q. What is the one embellishment you can’t live without?

Probably a great alpha - I’m really into my alphas.

Q. What made you fall in love with La’s designs?

Lauren’s designs are perfect for kid pages and I do a lot of kid pages! She always has great kits in kid friendly colors with cute artwork and a perfect alpha. Her designs work really well for my pages and they are always really original and fun.

Q. Ok, now we want to see your handywork with some La Designs…show me your 2 fave layouts using La’s products.

Roar! using Dino-riffic!

Q. Lastly, show me your very favorite La Grier Product and tell me why it’s your absolute fave.

dino-riffic!!

A. The Dino-riffic! kit is probably my absolute favorite Lauren product! This kit has all the aspects of a perfect kit to me - awesome color palette, cute little dinos, fun alpha AND a perfect stripe paper.

Well, that was fun! Thanks for being with us Emmy and thank you everyone else for reading along with me. :)

Here’s a little gift for hanging out with us today. It was created by August Guest- April! Thank you April!
